CSO - combined sewer overflow. Normally only the control cabinet Image is visible as vegetation has overgrown the actual underground chamber. but some maintenance must have been needed and the bushes have been cut back to expose two access covers. Environment Agency data available online say that this sewer overflow operated five times in the previous year.
