An obelisk on Breach Hill Lane, dating from the early to mid-19th century, is said to have been built as a waterworks marker. It has a square limestone plinth about 3 feet (1 m) high. The obelisk is about 32 feet (10 m) high with a pyramidal top and small opening at the top on two sides. Decorative column housing an air vent from the 'Line of Works', the original gravity-fed system taking water from the source of the Chew to Barrow settling tanks. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1320746
