Courtaulds established a factory at Coventry in 1905. It became known for the production of artificial fibres such as rayon and, more recently, Tencel. The factory closed in the early 1990s but parts of it have been preserved through conversion to other uses. The distinctive clock tower is now part of an office building called Tower Court. The building across the road from the tower, on the right hand side of this photo, has recently (2020-21) been converted into housing, with the addition of an extra storey (with white walls).
