Opened in 1868 by the Great Western Railway on the line from London Paddington to Reading. After the line was quadrupled in 1876, a large station building was erected over the railway lines, to the right of this image. This was replaced in 1974 by a much smaller booking office where the building to the right is. This was replaced by the actual building on the right in 1996. In 2021, the new station building on the left was opened, leaving the 1996 building empty, when this image was taken.
