Coming over the downs I saw that the whole of the Vale of the White Horse was blanketed in low cloud, with clear conditions above about 100 metres ASL. The farmland on the higher scarp slope of this square is clear, but Wantage is invisible. Some 20 kilometres away the plumes of rising steam are all that are visible of Didcot power station.
