Farsley National School on Frances Street was built in 1885 for 200 pupils, replacing an earlier building of 1807. It was enlarged in 1887, 1897 and again in 1974 and 1982, after which it became the responsibility of the Leeds Education Authority and known as Westroyd School. For most of its history it has been an infant school (up to age 7), but was extended again in 2017 to accommodate the school becoming a primary school (up to age 11). Early years provision is on a separate site nearby [Summary of the school's history on its website]. See Image for a view from the opposite direction.
