Brandon Wood is an ancient wood of approximately 178 acres (72 hectares). To conservationists it is a planted ancient woodland site (like Elkin Wood on the other side of Coventry), as it was planted with conifers in the 20th century. Since 1981 it has been maintained by the Friends of Brandon Wood, who bought the wood from the Forestry Commission in 2000. https://www.brandonwood.org.uk/ They are gradually removing the conifers and allowing it to revert to semi-natural broadleaved woodland. https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/woods/brandon-wood/ There is public access, and a good display of bluebells and other flora in the spring.
