St Wilfrid's Church stands to the north of the village of Mobberley. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building (Historic England List Entry Number: 1139554 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1139554 ). The church was built in the 14th/15th century with the tower added in 1533. The present church is believed to incorporate fragments of an earlier building or buildings. Remains of a Saxon church were found during excavations when the church was undergoing restoration in 1888.
