The Manchester Ship Canal retains water hydraulic bridge operating machinery although the pumping plant is now modernised. These are of about 1893 vintage and from Armstrong's works at Elswick on the Tyne. I didn't photograph the bridge at the same time. We were passing and the door was open so we just asked to have a look. If anybody can post the bridge it would help broaden the story.
