One of two mills here, both converted to paper mills in 1829 and now converted into dwellings. This shows the "grouted scantle slate hipped roof" of the building described at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1108380 . Fellow contributor Martin Bodman has this "In 1828-9 it was used for flax spinning but still retained a small grist and flour mill together with a dwelling house, gardens, stables and five cottages among other features ... A large extension with a clock tower was built in 1889", quoted at https://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=MDV13759&resourceID=104 . The more conspicuous later building is the one shown at http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/SX8155?centi=SX816558 . The valley is of the River Wash.
