Built in 1989 as part of the Belle Vue entertainment complex on the former Belle Vue Zoo site, the 14-screen cinema closed permanently in March 2020 at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The 13-acre site was sold to Manchester City Council. It will be replaced by The Co-op Belle Vue Academy run by the Co-Op Academies Trust.
