The Wirral Way, near Willaston

The Wirral Way runs along a disused railway line. The line was opened 1.10.1866, by the Birkenhead Joint [Great Western Railway & London North Western Railway]. It closed to passengers 17.9.1956, then closed completely 7.5.1962. The line survived until 1964 for goods services and latterly it was used to train drivers on newly introduced DMU's.
