In the news on 1 April 2011 when it became the headquarters of the South Down's National Park. Here are some news events from March 2021: 5th March - Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, is missing after leaving her friend's home near Clapham Common to walk to her home in Brixton Hill; March 7th – Switzerland becomes the seventh European nation to ban the wearing of the burqa in public; 10th March - the body of Sarah Everard found in woodland near Ashford, Kent; 13th March -arrests at vigil on Clapham Common for Sarah Everard spark calls for the resignation of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick; March 23rd - one of the largest container ships in the world, the Ever Given, runs aground and causes a major blockage in the Suez Canal. The resulting bottleneck of ships leads to significant disruption of global trade; March 27th - The number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered worldwide exceeds 500 million.
