Bournemouth School is a boys' state grammar school which was established in 1901. Originally it occupied premises in Portchester Road, a mile or two south of here, before relocating to this purpose-built site in the 1940s. The girls' equivalent, Bournemouth School for Girls, is at the bottom of the hill at the other end of East Way (northeast).
