This was organised by local GP practices: cheerful vaccinators, helpful stewards – probably all nurses and doctors in civvies. The Oxford vaccine was given either through the open car window or standing by the car. A good experience on a cold Saturday afternoon. We had had letters from the NHS inviting us to book via a website – the nearest centres were in Birmingham – or contact our GP. We knew that the golf club site was coming onstream and were able to book by phone through the practice. It was a surprisingly long drive round a site consisting of two 18-hole courses, a 9-hole course and a lot of parking. I believe transport could be arranged for people who had no car.
