Birtle Dene Mill, Cheesden Valley

Wall edge of Birtle Dene Mill. The mill itself was a large complex built in 1824 and owned by the Ramsbottom family for most of its life. This was a full-scale 4-storey cotton spinning mill and weaving shed, The mill produced its own gas and was powered by a large waterwheel and auxiliary engine.
