This shows two sliding vane type exhausters flanking a gas governor. The exhausters are belt driven. In the centre top background is a washer. The exhausters pull the gas from the retorts and push it through the cleaning processes and into the gas holders. Biggar is one of the preserved small towns gasworks in the United Kingdom and one of the few reminders of what was once a massive industry in manufactured gas.
