Apart from major buildings - the Castle, the Parish Church - the use of stone for complete buildings is rare in Newark. This seventeenth century house is one of the few and does look rather out of place as a result. The local blue lias does not weather well so gives a rather patchy appearance. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1231520
