Hillcrest, number 31 Bayley Street, and The Dolls House, number 33 Bayley Street, are two cottages built in the 17th century, or earlier, with later alterations. Timber framed and stuccoed with some painted brick to the front. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1122963 Castle Hedingham is a small village in Essex about 15 miles north west of Colchester. The village developed around the Norman castle and is home to a large number of timber framed medieval buildings. The village’s railway station which was opened in 1867, closed in 1964 and was dismantled and rebuilt in 1974 on a new site to the north west of the village by the Colne Valley Railway Preservation Society.
