With steam gently rising from the water, and barely a ripple, the scene looks very peaceful, but the noise of the A66 is always intrusive here except (as yesterday) when the road is closed by snow (and the occasional jack-knifed articulated truck). This morning the constant noise is back to normal, though it doesn't seem to bother the ducks. They were much more concerned about my passing, and all were circling around waiting for my departure, most having been flushed not from the actual pond, but the depths of adjacent ditches.
