The Griffin Hotel is late 16th or early 17th century. Timber framed and stuccoed. The roof has been extended over the carriageway and wing. Listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1126471 Isleham is a rural fenland village situated about 6 miles north of Newmarket and some 7 miles south east of Ely. The village is renowned for the Isleham Hoard of more than 6500 pieces of bronze from the late Bronze Age. The priory of St Margaret of Antioch was founded in the village circa 1090.
