The stone used to be lined up at the back of the churchyard like other headstones, but has now been moved to the side of the path leading to the church. It is in cleaner condition than Image The stone has two 'Belvoir angels' at the top, with an inscription: Through a woman I received this wound Which quickly brought my body to ye ground Its sure in time that she will have her due The murdering hand gods vengence will pursue The debt I ow'd that caused all the strife Was very small to cost me my sweet life She threatened to give me a mark and made her cause look very dark The story is that Edward, after drinking at the Durham Ox at Six Hills, was unable to pay ½ d for his beer.
