Newnham Grange and the Rayne Building, Darwin College

The Rayne Building was constructed around 1967 and joined Newnham Grange with Darwin College's new acquisition, The Hermitage. Newnham Grange was the one-time home of the family of George Darwin, the second son of the famous Charles Darwin. A minor backwater of the River Cam lies at this side of Darwin College and there are two islands joined by bridges.
