Dating back to 1800 and a cloth mill by 1808 this water powered mill later became a flock and shoddy (waste textiles) mill. It is now owned by Ruskin College and has been heavily rebuilt. It is only half its original length and the gable end (on the right by the lamp post) with a bell is a new construction. The former mill pond is used for fish farming. Despite its reconstruction, it still retains an industrial feel and adds to the ambience of its setting.
