Priorities

Drug related crime within the Ashby Central ward area this incorporates drug dealing and drug possession/usage.

Through our policing tactics and systems we have been able to identify a number of persons, addresses and location which are of main concern to the wider community.

The community are vital to our responses and we would like to ask where possible for the community to engage with police if you have concerns this can be completed through 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The information you share with us you will remain completely anonymous and aid in our responses against these suspects.

Response (11 Apr 2024)

High visibility patrols and plain clothes operations within the ward area have been conducted and future dates have been identified in order to address the ongoing issues.

Joint visits have been conducted in areas which have been identified as hotspot areas for drug use and dealing. These visits have been conducted alongside our partners this has included the local authority and housing associations. These visits have been used in order to prevent, detect and deter crime in order to reduce further offending and bring suspects through the criminal justice system. These visits are vital in order to increase our intelligence picture and confidence from members of the public, this has also been linked in with our humber talking initiative.

Within the ward we have also completed a closure notice at an address following concerns in respect of the address which had a wide impact on the local community.

Due to a spike of shop thefts within the Ashby Lakeside and Ashby Central area this has become our first priority for the area. At present we are collating any offences and prioritizing our patrols with information linked to these offences to look at dealing with the offenders with the most proportionate outcome to reduce the risk of reoffending and loss for the victims.

The local policing team have been conducting high visibility and plain clothes within the Ashby lakeside and Ashby central area. Following these patrols the team have successfully located and arrested 2 persons. Stop and search powers have also been used in order to prevent, detect and deter any offences. These patrols will remain in place and further localized high visibility and engagement with the shop owners and staff remain in place in order to best maintain and deal with the levels of shop lifting committed for the ward area.
