Showing St Chad's, Old Hall Lane, Kirkby and gate to Millbrook Park. St Chad's church was consecrated in 1871 on the site of a 1766 chapel but this was also the site of an earlier chapel dating 870AD. In Old Norse, Kirkby means church settlement, in the Domesday Book it is spelt 'Cherchebi'.
