The sign is surmounted by the Revett family crest and depicts one of the many thatched cottages, the church and John Lowes, Rector at Brandeston who was hung after being tortured for weeks by the Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins and finally confessing to witchcraft. In All Saints church there is a plaque in memory to the wronged Rector and against the names of incumbents of the church is the name John Lowe, hanged for witchcraft. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4374328
