Crimble Mill near Heywood

A former cotton mill alongside the River Roch. It was built for Charles Stott about 1825 and was originally water powered. It was extended with a beam engine house and fireproof warehouse in the 1850s. In the 1880s the mill changed to integrated woollen production. This part of the site is Listed Grade II*. More modern developments out of sight to the right are not listed and included a now demolished engine house that held a Musgrave extraction engine.
