This rather splendid castellated pub dates from 1746/47 and was originally built as a sham castle known as Edgehill Tower. It is now the Castle Inn which serves very pleasant ale and food. Their website here https://castleatedgehill.co.uk/ The pub is now linked by a first floor bridge to its little gatehouse, to the right. The pub in the village of Edgehill is atop the escarpment which leads down to the site of the famous, eponymous battle. The two buildings are separately listed by English Heritage, both as Grade II* The Castle Inn https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1024196 The Gatehouse https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1355560
