The Isabel Trail is a cycleway leading north from Doxey Road. It follows the route of the Uttoxeter - Stafford railway, an outpost of the Great Northern Railway and later the LNER. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1939, and most of line closed completely in 1951; however, a short stretch, including the section seen here continued to be used until the 1970s for access to an RAF base.
