A map of 1904 shows an undeveloped field in the angle of Wake Green Road and Springfield Road. By 1916 there are blocks of semi-detached houses along both roads, including the nearest in this photo. The other two first appear on a map of 1937. By this time there had been much development along roads but there were still many fields and small woods in this area of south Birmingham.
