The cottages are named New Cottages or Manor Cottages on the online OS map, depending on the magnification. British History online, presumably referring to these, says "a pair of cottages by the Cirencester road was described as new in 1919". https://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/glos/vol7/pp5-13
