Once an oast house on the estate of Greet Farm, later known as Ellens Court. After the Great War Dr Josiah Oldfield, of the Royal Artillery Medical Corps, bought the almost derelict estate of Lady Margaret Manor. Here, at Ellens Court, he set up a specialist convalescent hospital where treatment was based on a fruitarian dietary regime. During World War 2 it was taken over by the Stansfield Association, giving holidays to East End children. After the war, it became a Youth Hostel. Today it is a home for adults with learning difficulties.
