A beautiful thatched building right on the main road through Compton Dundon is now a private residence. Originally it was an inn which opened in the mid 1800s, but was known as the Hare and Hounds by 1872. It served pints and was also a farmhouse in the nineteenth century, serving until about 1964. Thereafter it was the Old Tavern Tearoom until it finally shut its doors commercially.
