An inscription tells us that "This shelter was erected by the Parish Council to mark the fortieth year in office of John W. Throssell, Clerk to the Council; and to celebrate the eightieth birthday of John W. Davison, a benefactor of the village." The architect was P. Russell Gibbs, the builder Kenneth C. Throssell, and the thatcher Sidney T. Buckley. The work was completed in November 1959. The shelter stands opposite the Poacher pub. Whippet Coaches provide two daily return services to Cambridge plus an early morning run to Bar Hill. An extension of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway (operated by Stagecoach) also offers a commuter day return journey to St Ives and Cambridge city and rail station from Monday to Friday.
