The blue notice on the gable end reads "These fine cottages and the two adjacent ones westwards were acquired in 1938 by the Cambridge Preservation Society and were reconditioned in that year with the aid of a grant from the South Cambridgeshire Rural District Council under the Housing (Rural Workers) Acts and with the generous assistance of Miss A M Mayor and other donors. In memory of F M M". According to the Grade II listing the cottages probably date from the 17th or 18th centuries.
