There are often queues of narrowboats waiting to use the lock here. It is quite a slow one to fill. Also, if the next lock is being emptied a lot by crews leaving Penkridge in a northerly direction, (or some wazzock leaves a paddle up) the water here is prone to being shallow, and mooring to wait for is lock can be "fun".
