Looking west up the A4039 Goldthorn Hill, the Aldi store opened on the site of the former Fighting Cocks public house, which was demolished in 1993. Planning permission has now been granted for the store to expand. This will involve the demolition of the two beige semi-detached houses beyond the red van in the centre of the image. The store will be closed for between seven and nine months. Maybe coronavirus Covid-19 will result in a postponement of the work.
