Memorial remembers the crew of 428 (RCAF) Sqdn Halifax LK954 NA-E who were killed when their aircraft crashed at this site on the night of 3rd November 1943. It had departed Middleton St. George at 1647 for Ops Dusseldorf. The aircraft crashed at 21:33 with the loss of all eight crew.
