The arms were officially granted on June 18th 1951. The salmon refers to the nearby River Ogmore/Afon Ogwr. The bridge stands for Bridgend. The raven at the top of the crest alludes to Lord Dunraven. The wheatsheaves are for agriculture. The arms are now used by Bridgend town council.
