Sheep at Gowshillock

Most sheep at this time of year are kept on the low ground, mostly close to farms, in preparation for the lambing season that will begin shortly. Modern maps name the house as Hardhillock, but on the 19th century maps it is marked as Gowshillock. The name Gowshillock disappears from the valuations rolls between 1920 and 1925.
