Autotrain departing towards Newton Abbot, typical formation consisting of a former Great Western Railway 14xx tank engine propelling a single autocoach. This type of train formed the basic service on the Moretonhampstead branch. The No Thoroughfare notice on the right is classic GWR style of white painted cut-out wooden letters on a black wooden board. This would have been a very early photograph from my own collection, taken with my first camera, a Box-Brownie 620. A slow shutter speed, not ideal for taking moving objects, as the quality of the image shows!
