The new visitor centre opened in 2018. following the RSPB taking over management of Sherwood Forest from the Nottinghamshire County Council. When this photo was taken in September 2019 work was ongoing to remove all trace of the 1970s country park visitor centre that this building had replaced, along with the associated car parks, and return that part of Sherwood Forest to wood pasture.
