The oldest town house in Brighton dates to the mid to late 17th century, a consequence of the French burning the settlement to the ground in 1515. For more than two centuries it has been hidden away and accessed via a gate on North Street. The demolition of Image for a new development called Hanningtons Lane has now opened the cottage to view once again.
