The path is on an old lane or field access track alongside a retaining wall bordering Brighouse Wood, It is captioned 'F.P.' on the 1:2500 maps of 1922, 1933 and 1969. The route shown on the Explorer map is incorrect; it is shown on the private road in the wood, Black Brook Court, which has a locked gate where it leaves Mill Hill Lane.
