Wendover Arm, former railway crossing

Footbridge no 11 marks the point where a railway once crossed the Wendover Arm. The branch line served RAF Halton from 1917 to 1963. The original railway bridge here was built by German prisoners of war. It was finally demolished in 1965 as a training exercise by sappers.
