Introduction
The photograph on this page of The Church of St Mary: The Spire by Bob Harvey as part of the Geograph project.
The Geograph project started in 2005 with the aim of publishing, organising and preserving representative images for every square kilometre of Great Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man.
There are currently over 7.5m images from over 14,400 individuals and you can help contribute to the project by visiting https://www.geograph.org.uk

According to the listing at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1360327 the tower and spire date to the 14th Century. It goes on to say "Recessed octagonal spire with 2 sets of alternating lucarnes with finial gables and steeply pointed cinquefoil openings. The spire has an ornate finial replaced in C20.". I think the description comes from Pevsner. The style, and the distance over which it can be seen, (see Image) suggests to me, again, that the variety of styles in Church Spires was an aid to medieval navigation between settlements.
