One of the three places of worship on Church Lane. Long Clawson Baptist Church was part of the New Connexion General Baptist formed in 1770. At that time the church suffered bitter persecution and so great was the opposition that the work was discontinued. It wasn't until 1840 that the Hose Baptists (founded in 1791) were successful in re-forming a work in Long Clawson when local people attended services and asked for baptism. In 1927 the chapel was renovated and a school room was added, which is commemorated in the plaque above the porch. In the 1950's a Baptistry (a large pool set into the chapel floor) was built for 'Believers' baptism.
