Interesting contrast in hedgerow management on the two sides of the lane. On the right mechanical trimming is minimised with mature trees inter-dispersed with younger ones. On the left regular mechanical trimming produces a very good "tidy" hedge but with a lack of new trees. Sadly this type of hedge has no "bottom" and will not keep livestock in.
