Air Chief Marshal, Sir Keith Park (1892-1975) was the Air Officer Commanding Number 11 (Fighter) Group at RAF Uxbridge from April to December 1940. He commanded the RAF fighter squadrons that defended London and south-east England during the Battle of Britain. The statue now here formerly stood on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in 2009 to recognise his role during the Battle. A permanent (and smaller) bronze statue was unveiled at Waterloo Place in 2010 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Image
